Voted to Facilitate Stripping Non-Profits of Tax-Exempt Status

H.R. 9495 The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act
This bill's purpose was to make it easier to strip non-profit organizations of their tax-exempt status, ostensibly as a means of stopping anti-semitism. On the surface, the point was to deny groups that advocated for Palestinian rights ("Hamas supporters") tax-exempt status. Critics overwhelmingly pointed out that it could and likely would be used by a Republican administration to go after their enemies such as universities and mutual-aid organizations.
The bill eventually failed to pass in the Senate, so it never became law.
